Yu-Wen Wu is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Boston. Born in Taipei, Taiwan and relocating to the United States early age, her experiences as an immigrant have shaped her work in areas of migration, examining issues of displacement, arrival, assimilation and the shape of identity in a new country. At the crossroads of art, science, politics and social issues, her wide range of projects include large-scale drawings, site-specific video installations, community engaged practices, and public art. Wu has received numerous awards, exhibited nationally and internationally, and is in many public and private collections.
Anne Anlin Cheng is Professor of English at Princeton University and an affiliate of the Programs in American Studies and in Gender and Sexuality Studies. She is the author of The Melancholy of Race: Assimilation, Psychoanalysis, and Hidden Grief; Second Skin: Josephine Baker and the Modern Surface; and most recently, Ornamentalism. She specializes in modernism, comparative race studies, and the uneasy confrontation between politics and aesthetics in the diverse fields of psychoanalysis, law, architecture, film, fashion, and other visual cultures. Her writing has also appeared in Critical Inquiry, Representations, PMLA, Camera Obscura, Differences, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Nation, among others.
