Nocturne consists of 7 individual pieces. These works are sold together, measuring 84 x 54 inches. The specific dimensions of each piece are as follows: 19.5 x 10.25 inches framed; 23.5 x 14.25 inches framed; 19 x 15 inches framed; 20 x 15 inches framed; 16.5 x 8.25 inches framed; 10.5 x 18.5 inches framed; 10 x 8.5 inches framed.
Nocturne was inspired by composer Frédéric Chopin's Nocturnes, the Pleiades (star clusters also known as the Seven Sisters), and Taiwanese folk tales as told to the artist by her grandmother. For this installation, Wu hole-punched the printed the score Nocturnes onto paper and then mapped the star clusters imagining the Pleiades constellation, thus creating a multilayered piece that uses music as a base map to then render the constellation visible.
