This "scrimshaw" depicts a boat owned by the artist's friend hat sank in the polluted Newton Creek in 2010 (the date is inscribed). To get the boat up to the surface, Duke RIley and others filled it with empty plastic water bottles floating nearby in the creek. It worked!
