I see these works as both a warning and an escape from our reality. With all the stress and damage that humankind puts on each other and the environment, it‘s feasible that these anomalies could appear as warning signs, educators or markers. Our day-to-day reality need not be mundane or expected.

I look for the things others choose to not see, or what, at first glance, does not appear to be there. My eyes are open, and my phone is off. I choose to live in the present: a real world of flesh and physicality. These paintings will take you there too, if you allow them.

My work is intentionally small and made for the domestic spaces. It is important that the paintings be intimate and only one person can share the space with them at a time. These pieces look simultaneously old and new, housing modern imagery in vintage cigar boxes and wooden boxes that come with their own histories.

The painting strives to be sculpture and the sculptural nature of the box frames try to be painting. Think of these works as a shrine with the power to temporarily remove the viewer from their surroundings.
