This pattern was used in Joiri Minaya's Fleurs de liberation: an ecology of resistance at Prospect 6. New Orleans in 2024 wherein she cloaked the New Orleans African American Museum. Minaya’s contribution to Prospect.6 focused on the use of plants as passive resistance against colonial assimilation through healing and sustenance within the Tréme neighborhood in New Orleans. Formerly the Morand Plantation, the area transformed into the largest and politically progressive community of Black people in the United States by the mid-1850’s. By completely covering the New Orleans African American Museum, Minaya highlights narratives and practices essential to the becoming of the structure and locality.
