i’m always tending

"This installation is a reference to a table, but it’s dysfunctional and sagging. There is a sense of interruption, about never being able to finish anything, especially as a parent of young children during the pandemic. The nonsensical collection of objects and ephemera includes items from my kids. The lenses and the prism are there to change your perception of things. Of course, the still-life comes to mind, and that is where the video work comes in, a gif on continuous loop. To me, it evokes the “Groundhog Day” effect of the pandemic. I think about my smartphone, my reliance on it, and how dependent I am on such devices to see my work through that lens. The table, and the table detail in the video, play off of each other to create a relationship of scale, and asks us to reconsider our perception of reality."
