BOSTON TEA PARTY REMIX Ceramicist Roberto Lugo calls back to traditional Western forms of homage and myth-making — portraits on porcelain, narratives on ancient Greek amphorae — with contemporary imagery depicting the faces and feats of Black Americans. A series of teapots with portraits of Muhammad Ali, Nina Simone, Notorious B.I.G., and others rhymes the social activism of those leaders with that of protestors who tossed British tea into Boston Harbor in 1773.
