Praise Shadows is honored to present an online exhibition of small-scale collages from Helina Metaferia's series Refiguring the Canon. The artist has stated that these collages "create a hybrid environment where performance art and collage are used to interrogate racism, sexism, and notions of western exceptionalism within art historical narratives and institutional spaces." The combination of images and artwork create a persona reclaiming a space in art history for under-recognized and marginalized women and artists of color.
Other works from Refiguring the Canon are currently on view at The Africa Center, New York, NY, in a traveling exhibition with Independent Curators International through 2028.
All works will be framed and glazed prior to shipping. Please allow for a one-month turnaround.
